Unforgettable outdoor experiences

PLEASE NOTE: this is a family event and a child cannot attend on their own.

At our family Halloween event you will be able to take part in some Halloween themed outdoor activities as well as some of the other outdoor activities we have on offer here, such as den building and toasting marshmallows & hot choc around the campfire. There are also sand pits and mud kitchens available for the younger ones if they’d prefer.

Our family sessions are designed for the whole family to take part (alongside other families) and so everyone needs a ticket please (under 2s are free). We ask that there is at least 1 adult on the booking and a max of 3 children per adult.

Scammonden View is a small family run business set within 7 acres overlooking Scammonden Dam. We offer an exciting outdoor experience including den building, bush crafts, orienteering, nature crafts, team building/problem solving activities and much more.

Scammonden View is located off Lower Road at Scammonden.

From Barkisland/Ripponden area continue past Ringstone reservoir on Saddleworth road then immediately after passing over Scammonden Bridge turn left into Ryefield Lane and continue down to where the road forks. Take the right fork and drive on Lower Road (please be aware that it is a narrow single track road and please be mindful and courteous of pedestrians) and park in the small public car park (owned by Yorkshire Water) on the end which is next to Scammonden View. Alternatively you can park on Ryefield Lane and walk on Lower Road to Scammonden View. Please do say hello to the goats as you pass, they usually love a bit of attention.

If you are coming from Outlane side be mindful that your sat nav may take you down some narrow roads. To avoid these don’t turn right when it signposts Scammonden reservoir but continue on New Hey Road until you reach the junction with Saddleworth Road (car park opposite), turn right onto Saddleworth Road until you reach the motorway bridge. You need to turn right before the bridge onto Ryefield Lane and then follow the directions above.

Please be careful if you come down Church Lane instead as there are large ditches on each side of the road that are hidden by the grass verge.

Please gather in the field in front of the car park where someone will meet you and take you through to Scammonden View.
